It is well known facts that Free Radicals responsible for ALL chronic and degenerative diseases such as Cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke osteoarthritis, cataracts and wrinkle skin. Over ninety percent of free radical radicals are oxygen free radical. Oxidation is the process of losing electron and reduction is the state of gaining electron. Reduction is the process by antioxidants.

Free radicals are damaging process and antioxidants are repair process.  Free radicals damage cell structures, cause oxidation (rancidity). In the state of inactive free radical enzymes , the oxidant damage is not well controlled.

Chronic and degenerative diseases such as cancer and heart disease can be prevented by getting enough of the substances found in fresh fruits and vegetables and other healthy foods. They are rich in anti-oxidants. There are many evidence that taking high amount of fruits and vegetable lengthen telomere. Telomere is aging clock located at the both end of our DNA. The shorter the telomere, the sooner manifestation of heart disease or cancer will come.

Perhaps in the past we had the excuse of a lack of evidence, but today that dodge is no longer an acceptable excuse for neglecting healthy practices. It is not to under-emphasize to points out that a healthy diet is not nearly enough, we need to supplement our modern diets to get the optimum amounts of these antioxidants. Further to the truth is due to quality of our food reduced so much because of soil quality agriculture reduce by as much as 60 – 80% in terms of mineral contents. (USA data in the year 1990 compare to 1950).

There are hundreds of known antioxidants. Examples are Lipoic Acid, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Coenzyme Q10, Gluthathione, Flavonoids, Carotinoids and Selenium.

There are five which seem to be the most important, and which operate as a network, meaning that they help balance and recycle each other.

Cells are essentially filled with water surrounded by a fatty wall, so both fat and water soluble varieties are important. Two of the network antioxidants are water soluble (vitamin C and glutathione), two are fat soluble (vitamin E and CoQ10), and one (lipoic acid) is both fat and water soluble. The importance of this latter team member has only been known in the last decade. It may be the most important of all and most daily supplement manufacturers don’t even include it.
