Building block of atherosclerotic plaque are consists of cholesterol, cell debri, white blood cells and calcium. Calcium is blended together inside the cholesterol like fruits in fruit cake. Calcium embedded together with the cholesterol renders the plague became very hard and stable. Once EDTA has captured calcium or metallic waste it circulates throughout the blood stream until it exits the body through the kidneys. Cholesterol will dislodge layer by layer when there is decalcification of the plaque building block.

Calcification of coronary artery is one of accurate assessment of coronary artery and it can be assess by calcium score by ultra-fast CT scan.

Coronary artery calcification: clinical significance and current methods of detection.

Abstract,” The earliest detectable lesion of coronary atherosclerosis is the fatty streak. Later, crescent-shaped lipid plaques occur, which may rupture and produce either progressive stenosis or sudden occlusion with myocardial infarction. Calcium is deposited early in the formation of the atherosclerotic plaque, and calcification can be used as a marker of the atherosclerotic process. Ultrafast CT can detect. Detection of calcification is most valuable in whom modification of risk factors may be important. In addition, the progression and possible regression of calcification can be used as an indicator of the atherosclerotic process. The absence of calcification in coronary arteries may diminish the need for further testing”

Atheroclerotic plague can be reduced by EDTA chelation. The effect of which is decalcification or removal of calcium that holding the plaque stable. Is there any means to induce decalcification?

Atherosclerotic plague can also be dangerously unstable. Micro-rupture on unstable plaque create a nodus for flowing blood to lodge at the clotting site, build-up the clot further and clot accumulation can occur very fast leading to complete blockage within minutes or hours. About half of cardiac end points that is myocardial infraction and death are due to clot formation.

With chelation therapy, EDTA molecule will bind with the calcium (so called decalcification process) and release in other place like bone, enzymes or inside cells in order to take up heavy metals or other minerals that are stronger positive charge than calcium. At the same time, there will be redistribution of good minerals or reduction of oxidized minerals. When calcium is removed from the atherosclerotic plague layer by layer, cholesterol will also be detached with series of EDTA chelation therapy. For a simplified analogy, cholesterol is like cement and calcium is like iron bar in building constructing. Without iron bar one cannot construct building. The reversal effect confirmed by ultra-fast CT scan as researched by Prof. Martin Ruben, Emeritus Professor of Georgetown University Medical School, Washington D.C.

The rough, ulcerated and tendency for rupture at the atherosclerotic plaque will greatly diminished, the surface is somewhat “polished” and stable following series of chelation therapy, avoiding rupture at the unstable plaque.

The decalcification effect can be induced by persistent relative hypocalcaemia for minimum of three hours during chelation therapy. Parathyroid gland will release hormone calcitonin, pulling out calcium from abnormal deposit sites into blood circulation. This is another mechanism beside direct catching and releasing by the EDTA molecule. One may say reduce calcium to extremely low calcium is dangerous. The fear is unfounded. In 15 years of practice we only encounter three cases of clinically hypocalcaemia in which the patient is fully aware, injection of calcium intravenously will reverse in less than a minute.

One may say reduce calcium will lead to osteoporosis. However, the opposite is true. Studies showed that following series of chelation therapy bone density improved, in other words chelation therapy reduce osteoporosis. The calcium reduction is only for few hours, that is not enough to induce osteoporosis.
