One Easy Test for Your Heart Health

Your physician has you come into his office and run on a treadmill while you're hooked up to an EKG. For the next 8 to 12 minutes, he'll evaluate your heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure as the intensity of the workout increases. When the stress test is over, he'll tell you whether you have coronary artery disease.

Here's news that might make your heart skip a beat: For women, there's a 35% chance the test results will be wrong.

Most often, the test reveals false positives, meaning healthy women are told they have heart disease.

Less frequently but obviously far more dangerous is when the test fails to detect clogged arteries that could, in fact, cause a heart attack.

Fewer men are misdiagnosed. Now you can check your heart functions and heart ischemia in just 10 minutes. It is comparable to angiogram in accuracy but better at some points.

This technology is called Multifunction Cardiogram (MCG). MCG is a completely new approach to the diagnosis of myocardial ischemia caused by coronary heart disease.

MCG is the only test in the world currently to check the level of heart ischemia.

Why heart ischemia? Ischemia means lack of blood supply to the organ and in this case, your heart.

If high ischemia level detected, your heart is in problem and risk of heart attack is imminent.

The Multifunction Cardiogram (MCG) is a revolutionary new kind of non-invasive diagnostic tool for measuring the health of a patient’s heart and the impact of ischemia and other problems.

The MCG provides a method to detect and measure myocardial ischemia with unprecedented accuracy in minutes. It is a resting, non-invasive, non-chemical/non-radiation test that can be performed in the ER by trained technical staff.

In our clinic, MCG test is done in a room and can finish in less than 15 minutes including the result.

The MCG uses a systems approach to modeling the heart and then comparing these models to a demographically appropriate risk-stratified database of similar patients using 166 indices with that database to aid both in the diagnosis and in predicting patient needs and outcomes.

The MCG was created to solve an intractable problem in cardiology: the unacceptable inaccuracies of the EKG and other cardiac-related diagnostic tools and the need for more accurate tools.

The inaccuracy of the present diagnostic tools affects both patients with cardiac issues as well as patients whose symptoms may appear to be cardiac-related but are not actually cardiac-derived.

An EKG can detect approximately 1/3 of patients with severe coronary artery disease, leaving 2/3 of the patients in danger of dying from their undetected illness.

Patients showing signs and symptoms of cardiac-related conditions are often catheterized and have angiograms performed. However, 62 percent of these patients actually have no significant atherosclerosis.

The problem created by inaccurate cardiac diagnostic tools is even acuter for women, leading in part to more women suffering long term from heart disease than men.

The MCG is the culmination of the efforts of two generations of dedicated scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and physicians. It uses rapid, automated, cloud-based, empirically derived digitized clinical databases to give doctors around the world the access to a startlingly accurate diagnostic system.

Not only ischemia level, MCG also can detect 25 pathologies of the heart :

Pathological Conditions

  • Ventricular Hypertrophy
  • Congenital Heart Disease
  • Rheumatic Heart Disease
  • Pulmonary Heart Disease
  • Myocarditis
  • Myocardial Damage
  • Ventricular arrhythmia
  • Incipient Arrhythmia
  • Atrial-Ventricular Fibrillation
  • Incipient Ventricular fibrillation
  • Atrial Fibrillation
  • Potential fibrillation
  • Cardiomyopathy

Physiopathological Conditions :

  • Local asynchrony (VS < II)
  • Local asynchrony (II < V5)
  • Localized Asynchrony
  • Global asynchrony (V5 < II)
  • Global asynchrony (II < V5)
  • Acute power Failure
  • Tachycardia
  • Bradycardia
  • Decreased ejection fraction
  • Increased myocardial compliance
  • Decreased myocardial compliance
  • Myocardial Remodelling

This is better than angiogram because angiogram only detects blockage of the artery but MCG not only can detect blockage but also 25 pathologies of the heart.

MCG also can be helpful to assess the effectiveness of stenting or bypass surgery.

Below is the table of comparison of MCG and standard ECG.

Heart attack right now? (with poor accuracy)?
Heart attack in past? (with poor accuracy)?
Early warning of heart attacks?
Quantified severity of cardiovascular disease burden?
Reversible CAD Stages?

MCG is very new in Malaysia. Currently, only two clinics adopt this technology. Impian Emas Medical Centre and Klinik Ebrahim and Surgery, Kuala Lumpur.
