Total or Whole body hyperthermia is used to treat metastatic cancer that has spread throughout the body or even cancer patient without metastases. The idea is to boost up immunity by way of activating white blood cells to clear cancer cells. This can be accomplished by several techniques that raise the body temperature to 39 – 41oC, including the use of thermal chambers (similar to large incubators). One of the novel device is using far infrared emitters that penetrate few centimeters under the skin, in the example here the frequency penetrate by red blood cells inside the chest and since the red blood cells travel all over the body, core body temperature raise to the desired level with monitoring. Once stabilized at the desired core temperature the body is covered with insulation blanket to the total length of 3 hours.
Research showed that white blood cell activities increase by ten to fourteen fold. One of the important white blood cells are natural killers cell and macrophages. One activated natural killer cell can kill up to 27 cancer cells. Right after total body hyperthermia, dendritic cell is injected hence increase effectiveness.
Note: High temperature sauna cannot achieve the desired fever range of the core temperature.
